Preparation
of our first expedition was started several
months before it’s beginning. In April we were visited our biggest river Danube and we were fascinated.
Beautiful nature and lot of
fish - fishing paradise. But Peto called me two weeks before planned
departure, that there was huge
amount of insects and that in
the official permission for fishing in this area are lot
of restrictions. So we had to take decision
about new place for fishing. We had two eventualities: Liptovska Mara Lake
or Lake Orava. We decided for Orava and it was good decision. Two
days before our arrival to Orava we were explored our
place. Gained information
from anglers were really bad: two weeks of nothing. But weather forecast
was good; weather should change
to rain and it should become more cold. On
last Saturday of June we were in Orava. Except us
there were three fishermen from
Bratislava, but they hadn't had bigger success.
We made four floats in
the old riverbed, because we expected that fish were in deeper water. We
dropped just a few boilies and a bit of particles to each fodder place.
On
Sunday we caught firstly
smaller, but than also bigger carps, Especially on Monday and Tuesday were
fish really agile and we
caught carps from 5 to
10 kilos weight. At the same time broke down our camera, so some carps
were taking pictures of them. We used boilies made by Chytil - tutti
frutti, scopex and bird food, and some flavours from Ritchword - Milk
Special and from Star Baits - fish. Sometimes we used combination
of flavored corn - honey and
strawberry. From
the fourth day was the bank full.
A lot of anglers tried to catch a carp and they threw a lot of particles
into the water. I changed my place, because near my float were grown up
four other floats, so on a 50 meters of water were five
fodder places. And result of these activities came
really soon. We caught carp just sporadically and local's had only small
fish. They found bad places, because near their floats was huge amount of water grass, but they still fed. The
local's have special approach
to the caught fish. They
don't know one very interesting invention - drop net. Catch and
release is in Orava unknown motto and if they catch a fish, they first
pull it on a stone bank and than it is given to box. If this fish is
released back to water, it hasn't chance to stay alive. And locals use
more nasty ways of fishing, but nobody competent is interested in it. But
we think that it was good week for us for all that locals were done and
for insect attacks. But we are sportsmen, so ...
